Old Trafford: Stadium rebuild will it be a dream or a nightmare?

I need to be honest straight from the off with this and then try and be balanced, I am fully in the camp that shouldn’t be building a new ground.

I love Old Trafford; I have always hated it people putting it down and never felt comfortable listening to people claim that they only went to away games because Old Trafford was sterile and shite.

Also, I don’t like the comments and ideals around the triggers broom nonsense, Stretford and East Tiers 2`s have been open since 2000, North Tiers 2 and 3 in 1996 with other parts of the ground being even older, the stands maybe tatty but communities and traditions have been built up in these newer areas of the ground just as they have in older sections.

However, that’s just my opinion and everyone is entitled to their own.

I don’t understand where the money is coming from?

How can a company who one day this week claimed they literally did not have the resources to supply some very disappointed customers with a breakdown of Prague allocation claim the very next day that they want to spend 2 billion on a new ground?

The whole thing just does not make sense to me.

The release of the Survey headlines this week with the headlines that 52% of Season Ticket Holders want to move has come at a bit of surprise to a lot of people.

Believing what you hear on social media the absolute feeling is the majority wanted to renovate and a small poll on the UWS forum also suggested the same. Talking around the grounds and away grounds across the ground, the feeling is the same.

As a group as FC58 evolves we need to decide how we broach these issues and how we engage with the club, as fun as they are we can’t get our protesting boots out every time we don’t like something but that does not mean we shouldn’t react.

Everton fans excited about moving to Bramley Moore are now approaching seat allocation time, this is being done on a loyalty basis case by case.

The key point being if your loyalty level is deemed greater than your pal, that you want to sit with, you will have to wait until their turn to pick your seats together.

Based on this while I would be able to select a seat similar to mine but would have to wait for my kids’ slot to be available and possibly end up somewhere more expensive or less desirable.

Issues like this no matter what happens needs to discuss with a completely trustworthy, transparent fans group.

Otherwise, you will end up with a scenario where the in crowd end up with plumb seats above the tunnel while the rabble are up in the sky. It really is no wonder there is a massive distrust of the cosy setup going on with the club and the official trust. A major conflict of interests for fans if there ever was one.

It will be interesting to get full disclosure from the Town hall meetings, but the consensus seems to be that whatever the result the club will do what they want.
